Has it been a while since you last redecorated your home? Is your home in need of having its décor updated? Many people enjoy redoing the décor in their homes and adding style. But spending a lot of money to redecorate is not always something people want to do. If you want to decorate your home and make it look stunning, but without spending a fortune, there are plenty of things you can do.
If you are into interior decorating shows and like looking at pictures of well-decorated homes redone by interior designers, you might want to ignore and forget what you have seen. Those shows usually involve getting rid of or throwing out all the décor currently in the house and going shopping to get better stuff. They take the most expensive route to redecorate.
But for you to redecorate or redo your room, there are ways for you to do so even with a zero budget. Unlike those shows, your goal should be to keep as much stuff that you already have instead of changing everything. You do not need an expert to show you how to decorate, you can do this on your own.
There are many DIY things you can create to decorate with, and you can also revamp your home by restyling it.
How to decorate your home on zero budget
Rearrange Furniture in all rooms:
Every time I rearrange the furniture in any room and walk back into it, I feel like I am in a new room. Rearranging furniture always gives a new perspective. It will change the way the room looks without removing its elements. In the living room, you can move around sofas, rotate chairs or move tables. In the bedroom, you can turn around the bed, move the lamps or rearrange pictures on the wall. If you do not like the way it looks, you can always put things back the way they were. Put up Wall Art:
You can create a gorgeous wall display by taking objects that you already have and putting it up as wall art. Old plates or hats will look lovely on a wall. By putting up things you already own, you do not need to spend on expensive wall décor.
Add Pillows and Cushions:
To make your sofas and bed feel extra cosy, add a bunch of throw pillows or cushions to them. Arrange to throw pillows or cushions of different colours and patterns to it for a funky, mismatched and bold look.
Follow The Rule of Threes:
What is Rule of Three in Decor & How to Use it? Redecorate and place objects that you already have in groups of threes. It looks more pleasing and interesting. You can keep three books on a table, three candles on a glass tray, three paintings on a wall or three light hangings over your kitchen island.
Add a Mirror to your Living room:
Place a large mirror against a wall in your living room. Get one with a beautiful frame. When a mirror is placed against a wall, it makes the ceiling feel higher and also brightens up space.
Repaint Furniture and the walls:
Repainting furniture and walls give a lovely new look for any room. Dated furniture and accessories, when repainted, get a pretty new look and feel new again. Using bright colours to make old furniture look new. Painting your walls white also looks very neat and pretty.
Hang your Curtains higher:
If you have long curtains, you can raise the curtain rod higher towards the ceiling. This makes the room feel higher and bigger.
Make a new pillow and cushion covers:
You can make new covers for your pillows and cushions by cutting up old t-shirts and stitching them or using old pieces of cloth.
Line up Glass Bottles:
Display glass bottles or vases in similar colours in a line on a table. You can fill them up with water and put a flower in each. You can do this instead of throwing away old bottles. If you want to, you can even paint them and keep them as a centrepiece.
Remove Cabinet doors in your kitchen:
Remove the cabinet doors in your kitchen to make it look more spacious. But check that the shelves are painted and look neat. Display the dishes, other utensils and cookware. Have matching glass jars filled with flour, pasta, spaghetti and rice kept on display too?
Hang up Art:
If you are into painting or have kids that love to draw and paint, frame all the drawings and paintings and put them on display on any free wall.
Deck up your Dining Table:
To make your dining table look grand, put a table runner on it. Place three glass bowls, each filled with one fresh fruit- on the table runner. Fruits like apples, oranges and lemons.
